Title: Burning DVDs
Description: Is it okay?

I was wondering if it was okay to burn DVDs of the series to watch. I mean, of course, solely for my own personal viewing, and absolutely not for selling. I want to burn them to DVD so I can watch them away from my computer (I hate sitting in this chair for hours on end) and mostly because I'd want to put them in cases and put them up on my shelf.

I'd love it if they'd release DVDs (or a really pretty box set) of this series in the U.S., and a part of me thinks it may be possible (since the movie is out here), but I also am hesitant to believe it a possibility (mostly because how often do live action Japanese shows of this nature make it to the US?).

If it's not okay, that's cool. I understand. I won't do it.

I don't see why not. Man I do it all the time. Saves me HD space. Love my Divx DVD player. :P

So, I have burned the first few episodes of Cutie Honey the Live on to DVD, and I really enjoy watching Cutie Honey the Live on a television set. It's wonderful. But I am pretty inexperienced when it comes to making homemade DVDs of this nature. So, I have a problem, and I was hoping someone could give me some advice. I've been searching the internet for an answer to no avail thus far, though I imagine I'm not looking in the right spots.

My problem is simply that my television plays the episodes in such a way that the left and right sides of the screen go outside the scope of my view on my television. During the bulk of the episodes, it's not really a problem. Mostly in the opening credits, it'll cut off a portion of Sailor Spork's credits and the part where she says I'm changing now. I don't want these DVDs to cut off Sailor Spork's credits on the screen. It's not fair to the people who worked hard on bringing us these episodes.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

or anything about making pretty menus?

As far as my Video Experience.. theres a certaint rule for putting titles and subs for viewing purposes for tv.. the Hard subs if it passes the boundaries on the left right to and bottom.. it will get cut off. Nothing you can do. I never tried it with a Wide Screen TV though but Regualr tv it will cut off. If you have a projector .. it will show everything.

I was wondering if it was okay to burn DVDs of the series to watch.

I don't see a problem with it, just don't sell them on eBay. I've actually already seen bootleg DVD's on eBay, and I'm sure they're just using our fansubs over down-sampled 720p encodes, and I hate seeing someone making money off of that without any of it going to the original producers.

Here's the bastard who's doing it, write him and tell him to f*** off.
CHtL bootleg on eBay

As for your encoding issues, I'm not really sure how to help. In my trials, instead of cutting off the sides, it puts black bars on the top and bottom. Maybe your DVD player is set up to handle widescreen movies with "pan & scan" instead of black bars, try playing with the settings or something.

I dont mind the black bars.. I like the blackbars. Just want to know if the subs will come out when you play it on a dvd.. I never dl the 720 yet. wanted to know if will show up. on the tv. As far as that bootleg DVD on Ebay.. F@CKING BASTARD!!! Well It doesn't look like its yours.. Well it has chinese subs too and you can take out the subs. Dont know they might have copied the subs. I really don't know. I hope not.
