Title: h264 720p?
Description: Will you download that or the XviD?

Need input, because not many people seem to be downloading the 720p. Is it worth the extra effort?

NOTE: DO NOT USE VLC ON SOFTSUBS. It always makes the subtitles look bad. Try anything else. Thank you.

Whether it's "worth it" I can't tell... but I always use the 720p version, if available. It's the native resolution of my projector, after all...

Can you use a font that you can download without having windows?

I would download the 720p version for sure though. Doesnt matter if it's raw&softsubs or mkv.

I'll give the h264 a try but I'm not sure I'll prefer it.

I've had mixed results with them in the past and it's left me a little hesitant. I admit: When they work, they work really really great! But when they don't work... Well, I've downloaded garbled junk instead of the show I was anticipating watching.

I'm not sure if it's my piece of junk computer. my choice of players (VLC) or is the person who recorded the show did something to it.

Anyway, here's hoping!

Downloaded both the high versions available and both crapped out on my comp.

(I have a 3 month old Vista machine. I use VLC player to run most of my video files and have had no problems until these 2 vids.)

Sorry guys I think if your going to the high res versions most of us wont be able to view them (unless we had a supper new machine... even newer than mine.)

Don't use VLC. It always messes up softsubs. I have no idea why.

Also, if you don't have the Nyala font, I imagine it would default to whatever the default font is. Usually Arial or something like that.

What exactly does the "the scripts are incomplete" mean that the release post for ep 16 is talking about?

Picture quality is one thing, but do I need the smaller versions to get the full story?

EDIT: 720p plays fine for me, not just Spork stuff. Never had any problems.
Maybe it's because I'm still using a CCCP Setup, even with Mediaplayer Classic as player (I've come to dislike some aspects of that one, though).

crap. i dont know what to vote for. i download the 720p raws and the subs, and sure id like to see the subs in 720p, but it really doesnt make that much of a difference to me. I guess im leaning somewhat towards the normal resolution since it will save me hdd/dvd space in the long run. i dont know

I have used VLC for over 2 years for watching videos (softsubs and regular) and theses are really the only ones it gets screwy on. I started using it when Real Player (in all its formats) went to hell and back and refused to play even the simplest of AVI files. (that and Vista has no support what so ever that I can find for RP.... now I havent looked in 5 months so I could be wrong.)

I still say the low res ones are the best versions. :P

I'd like to see soft subs, so I can use them with the RAW 720p versions already downloaded. It would be great to see. I don't really want to DL the first 17 eps again.

Thanks.

I would love to have the HD versions of the episodes, the only thing preventing me from downloading them is the fact that I watch the files on my TV using my Xbox360 as a Upnp media receiver, and it will not even support soft subs let alone MKV file.. :(

OptimusX - February 5, 2008 07:23 AM (GMT)
That is my similar complaint about the softsubs. Unless the PC itself is your output device, you won't be able to view the subs. I like to burn the files to DVD for viewing on my TV.

The 720p source would be great, with maximal quality for the conversion to DVD video...but I would need a simple subtitle file to use....

Even when using mkvextract to rip out the subs, they rarely come without conversion errors.

Anyway, I'm enjoying the work and will download both. The 720p for collection sake, and the Xvids to burn to DVD format to watch on my TV.

Yeah, the mkv format is more likely to crash or get out of synch on my computer, but the avi works everytime. Plus my portable media player will actually run the avi, but not the mkv format.
