I found a fan site for One Pound Gospel. It has summaries of the manga chapters:
One Pound Gospel FansiteThis episode is actually based on the manga. It covers chapters 15-19. The plot is basically the same.
The first episode was loosely based on chapters 6-9 and the third episode was loosely based on chapters 20-21.
