Title: Re: Cutie Honey video problems addressed...
apterous - November 27, 2004 09:33 AM (GMT)
A small handful of people have come to me telling me certain media players occasionally will not play this episode. Since a vast majority of people haven't had a problem, there is no need for a v2.
However, if you are one of those people having problems, here's some things other people have tried that have worked:
- Use Media Player Classic. Always works.
- Update your ffdshow.
- Buy me the DVD when it comes out so I have a decent, normal raw to use. I had a hell of a time turning the WMV raw I found on Winny into something I could encode from, and that might have affected something somewhere, causing random media player incompatability. Who knows.

I had no problems playing it. But i'm trying to reencode the wmv raw without recompress and without sucess too
Also, the video data appears to be corrupted, so i can't even recompress it w/ another codec. Since you did it, please, can you tell me how?
Keep up the good work =P
Thanks in advance.

You can try opening it and recompressing it via tmpgenc (there's an option to save as avi), or you can use the more robust "Boilsoft ASF Converter" software package. You'll need to rename it from .wmv to .asf for it to allow it, but it worked for me.
I did some additional filtering too, but that's up to you.

* Use Media Player Classic. Always works.
didn't - hasn't worked for me
* Update your ffdshow.
didn't work, plus i installed two other useless softwares that muched up my program file menu
lazyman's (how am i lazy? i searched this out!) mkv mess, virtual dub/mod/whatever
never had to install anything else (besides vlc) to play files before, oh well
* Buy me the DVD when it comes out so I have a decent, normal raw to use.
ah, but that's what i'm going to do for myself... when i go back, that is.
thanks all the same! it's free, and when i turn the sound and subtitles off, the video plays fine 1 out of 2 times. i'm happy
peace and good luck. keep shining

Dude, use VLC Media Player to watch it. I used it and haven't had any problems. It plays just about everything and it's free. You can get it here:

I was talking about Re: Cutie Honey 3's video problems. There's an armload of codecs you need to play the softsubbed Cutie Honey Live Action movie, which are all listed in the readme file. I think I'll publish and pin the readme file now that we have forums.
PS: If its the sound, you should look for the AC3 codec specifically, and make sure you have VobSub installed for the subtitles.

"Dude, use VLC Media Player to watch it."
yah, i been using that the most! since 7.1
i worry that if i pub it too much on the net, videolan will get all puffy and start sticking spyware in it :(
it still crashes, but true, it does play almost anything :)
"PS: If its the sound, you should look for the AC3 codec specifically, and make sure you have VobSub installed for the subtitles."
word. appreciate the feedback, keep on pushing
thought about that, but then thought that these two files be the only files i ever done encountered that needed anything outside of vlc
like i was saying earlier, i don't want no extra folders, and that matroska video stuff i got kept sticking anywhere from one to seven arrows in my task bar :( bleh
done gave up
feel free to delete these comments also, cause i really really am happy, and would like the good work to continue (stay motivated), as its plenty of live action out there untranslated! peace and keep shinin

Heyas,
I've had no problems in watching "Re:Cutie Honey" ep.3 - Media Player & latest version of DivX was all I needed. The only prob is eps. 1 & 2; I got ep. 3 from another site, but can't find the previous ones in a form that suits me. Y'see, I use cybercafes, and they don't allow installation of other programs, utils etc - so Bittorrent is a no go for me. Therefore Direct Download is the only method for Yours Truly. Can anyone suggest another site which has these eps via D-D, or perhaps this site could do similarly in the not too distant future?
