Title: 1-3 version 2 / Future DVD version?
Description: The Future of Uta~Kata

1-3v2
We released new versions of 1-3 because of translation / spelling / grammer / encoding problems. I listed them on the front page, but...

"Episode 1 had a dozen mistranslations, episode 2's audio slaowly went out of synch, episode 3... well, had 1 mistranslation; all 3 eps had editing and spelling errors, and featured an opening song with a very poor translation. The v2's are up to the same standards as the rest of the series... better in fact. "

Basically, they were rushed because we thought Lunar would try to crush us if we released just ep 1. As it turns out, they didn't take us seriously (perhaps the low quality did it), or they didn't take the series seriously since Bleach and other more popular projects get them 100x more leechers. Not an insult or a slight against Lunar, just an observation (I watch some Lunar fansubs too).

It was a big learning experience for me, and because of that, it won't happen again. The quality of other Spork releases will go up as a result.

AS FOR R2 DVD VERSIONS
Anime Convention season is just starting. If it looks like Uta~Kata won't be licensed during that time, we will release R2 DVD versions. We are obtaining DVD raws as I type. We will wait a bit so that, should it become licensed, we won't potentially cut into R1 sales with high quality "cheap alternatives." It's not what fansubs are for.

We are also planning on releasing the episode 13 OAV, but a release date for that in Japan has not yet been announced.

Is this the reason why Eps 1-3 was redone? http://www.lunarforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=1248

That's not something nice to say about any sub group, but if what he says is true in addition to what you stated about the mistranslations........I just want to know if the episodes besides 1-3v2 have any problems and why only the first 3 eps have problems. Was there a different subber for the first 3 eps and the eps after that?

I didn't see anything in that post relating to why we redid 1-3. Yes, we had a different, better translator make corrections, and if you look at the credits throughout the series, 'kev' never translates again. But its not like I can fire him, since he's the head of AnimeYuki.

And if it sounds mean... it wasn't meant to be, they just put a higher priority on their more popular projects. Sounds logical to me.

I just compared the original and the new version, and apart from the translation changes (the opening song was completely revamped and kanji was added to both OP and ED. THe script was tightned up right through with most notable changes to the prologue and at the end of the sequence with the first Djinn) the contrast has improved throughout and there seems to a little bit of a colour shift from reds to greens.

The OVA will be released as part of the the 2nd Summer Memory box (which would only have 5 episodes otherwise). There's a promo for it on the official site now but it doesn't seem to say much. Manatsu narrates the promo which suggests that either it will be set sometime during the series or they'll find some way to work her into the OVA.

Contrast change? To be honest, 2 of the 3 raws were the same, all that happened is that my encoding skills improved a little. You might notice it in some of the later eps, too. :)

As for episode 13, the title is "Early Winter for the Two Summers." In case you didn't know, Ichika's name is spelled with the kanji "one summer," and manatsu's as "midsummer," so both are spelled with the kanji for summer. So they might both, somehow, be in the oav, and since it's "eary winter," it probably takes place shortly after the TV series ends.

Dear apterous,

I really like the ending song, and I'm wondering if you would be willing to translate the song completely.

http://blog.rodtv.com/index.php?p=324 is the blog entry with the kanji of the entire song.

Thanks in advance!

Just wanting to say thank you for translating Uta~Kata! :D
I really like this anime. Ending's a bit weird though (i mean, what's up with that phonecall?), but that could be just me.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the OVA
