Thanks for the heads up. As I promised I will upload it to veoh, for anyone who cannot download the episode using torrent. I'll post the link here

Here it is: Cutie Honey Finale on Veoh

The ending is very bitter sweet. Thats all I am going to say. The episode was good- very emotional.

ahh, i dont like very much the end.. xP

i want Mayumi alive T.T~

vcoolwater - March 27, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
The ending is not what I wanted but I still like it.

One Annoying Nitpick

Mr. Tanaka and Nat-Chan should have been in the finale. Why not kill him along with his wife- I mean its the last episode - whats the point keep him alive.

Also I am not holding my breath for sequal- even though they left open for one. Rarely Japanese dramas ever have one- most have vague or open end ending - so I am satisfied with the ending of Cutie Honey the Live

As for Miki and Yuki's "fate"- I dont really care for it that much but I am okay with it

I hope I didn't spoil too much

avatarthe - March 27, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
Yay! I liked the ending(s)!
Guess some of the speculation about the resolution were right.
It was good to get some backstory on Hayami and Honey, anyone else think
Hayami has perfected the Lupin like anime body language?

Things I didn't like, no Nat-chan?!?! Also what's the deal with the final bad guy? Did they run low on money?

Now to wait for the subtitles to get the nuance..

I am happy I am not the only one who missed nat- chan. As for the final bad guy

I think she is suppose to be Sister Jill (main bad guy in all Cutie Honey versions) - Honey also said tradition catch pharse at the end- just wink to original Cutie Honey and to long time loyal fans

She sure didn't look like Sister Jill to me... actually when we first saw her from behind, I thought she was another Lesbian Panther Claw Boss come back to life.... but then I saw the head left over from a Power rangers episode.....

Hatori.Miki - March 27, 2008 09:52 AM (GMT)
i missed nat-chan too ;/

PantherClaw - March 27, 2008 12:29 PM (GMT)
Well, I didn't expect endings to end great, as most shows usually have lackluster endings. But, it ended well I guess, but it still needed for me to warm up to. But like everyone said; wheres nat-chan or Tanaka's husband????? Well anyways, THANK YOU sailorspork for subbing this interesting show.

vcoolwater - March 27, 2008 03:11 PM (GMT)
Actually I am not surprised about the ending - Toshiki Inoue (main headwriter) usually give these style of endings.

Inoue has written many of the Kaman Rider Series - including the one airing right now- Kiva. I never happy of the way he ends the series or I am totally confused by the endings.

Miki and Yuki are you typical totured "second riders" that he basically writes for. I think going to avoid his show from now on- no point watching if you know going be disappointed with end result.

With that being said, I think Cutie Honey was one of his better written shows. What helped was that it was shorter than the kamen rider series- he ends up dragging the story along and it becomes very tedious.

In fact many elements that were in his rider shows are in Cutie Honey- You could basically call it Kamen Rider Honey.

I am going to thank Sailor Spork in advance for your weekly releases for this cool show

Also I am holding my breath for sequal- even though they left open for one.

I don't expect a sequel. The way it's presented, this is basically a prequel (imperfect, but close) to the classic Cutey Honey series. The last 5 minutes play it out - Hayami with the pistol you see in the CH '73 opening, a Panther XYZ thing fighting Honey at the end, Honey's classic line finally ("Ai no Senshi, Cutey Honay saa!")...

That said, they could do another series, but it would have to involve the classic Panther Claw/Sister Jill story, which has been done and redone to death, and would limit the writing possibilities. It could be done, but it would feel less original than CHtL did, unless they did some majorly clever writing with it.

I'm just really glad there was no combining giant robot Honey-zord and no rubber suited monsters (until the end, and that doesn't count).

Yeah, I thought it was Mayumi too. I think the werewolf chick was basically "another" member of Panther Claw - she was just there to show Panther Claw is still around. I don't get why they made her a werewolf monster though, that was strange.

As for the ending...

I pretty much saw it coming. And if you've seen the other series, you'll see this is a typical Cutie Honey finale (especially in the final scene). It wasn't a bad ending, quite fitting actually.

My main issue with the ending (as well as the series) is the lack of a Panther Claw leader. I was already upset Zora was gone from the LAmovie/Re but no leader was just bleh. I'm also missing Nat-chan and Gen-san. It just seemed werid without them there, especially Nat-chan. Strange with Tanaka's husbend too. And what was the point of Kenta?? He didn't even make an appearance!

One thing I really didn't get -- why did Tanaka take control of Yuki? I thought she just wanted endless wealth, why not remove the Kuchu Genso Kotei Sochi? Why even bother with Honey? Tanaka would've problemly lived longer.

Thanks for subbing this series guys -- you did a great job.

Also - According to crunchyroll this series is licensed by Bandai Visual. Is this true? Or are they confusing it with the LA movie?

As fall as I know only the LA movie is licensed by Bandai. Plus Crunchy Roll is known to jump the gun when it comes to pulling series.

Another thing, might be is that Bandai has licensed the Cutie Honey- the trademark- meaning it has rights of any of the Cutie Honey Series. But they have not announced that they are licensing Cutie Honey The Live

apterous - March 29, 2008 09:39 PM (GMT)
The Crunchyroll thing is partially my fault. I contacted them saying that the Live Action movie was licensed, and asked them to remove it. They also accidentally removed the Live Action TV series as well, although I did contact them and pointed out the mistake.

Anyway, last episode is out! Enjoy it, then start watching the anime! ;)

It could've been worse. They could've had a combining giant robot Honey-zord with pilots inside that felt its every blow, a gatling gun that could cut through all kinds of steel (except the magic kind of steel of course, worn by the one-appearance monster from Week 36!)...and launched breast missiles.

--no wait, the last part might be a good idea :P

candyman808 - March 30, 2008 10:37 AM (GMT)
Im Gonna Miss MIKI and YUKI (glad miki wasn't Sister Jill).. And Mayumi i'll miss her too. I was Hoping Natchan will be there too all grown up. Oh well.. At least it was a good Ending.. I'm pleased. Good work Sailor Sporks. Now I have To finish Reuploading the your Sub into my site. so it can be preserve for a very long time. :) Thanks for making this Forum.. I feel so welcomed in here. :P . Hopefully there will be an SP for this. Well.. Thanks again.

Kargor - March 30, 2008 04:25 PM (GMT)
Of course, giving the Hayami/Honey background turned out to be a mistake --- apparently, one writer didn't know what the other wrote.

In Ep25, we learn that Hayami, being the usual idiot, got into trouble and was saved by Honey. So far, so good. He doesn't exactly strike me has the high-profile Android expert, though --- so how did he know about that "energy is running wild in her body" thing, and where did he get the device from? Did Honey give him a troubleshooting kit with a cartoon manual? Did he go to Cardiff and meet Prof. Kisaragi there?

Other than that, the mixed red/blue look was a nice change; too bad they didn't give her a red/blue/white look for the "panther claw is still alive" finale. Well, at least they did give her some Miki/Yuki moves, and I suppose she can summon the blade and the chakram if needed.

candyman808 - March 30, 2008 06:04 PM (GMT)
You are right Kargor... I was hoping too for a New Outfit of Honey in that last Fight Scene in the end. Hmmmm.. Feels incompelete the series. Hope they can make series 2 or and SP for this show.

Thally - March 30, 2008 07:42 PM (GMT)
I liked the ending, even though it's bittersweet....how I would've wished for an ending where they'd all be together physically X*D

Thanks Sporks for the subbing of this awesome series!

digital_ameko - March 31, 2008 05:54 AM (GMT)
I loved how honey conbined with Miki in the end.

have Yuki and Miki ever appeared on any of the Cutie Honey animes??if so how did they end on them??

PantherClaw - April 1, 2008 12:41 PM (GMT)
I think that they only appear on this show.

Yuki and Miki were sort of like a split version of Misty Honey from "Cutie Honey Flash". Misty Honey was Cutie Honey's "sister", but she was under evil control of Pather Claw, in the end she was able to break control but died. Her energy enter Honey turning her into a more powerful version of Honey called "Hyper Honey".
Misy Honey's color was Blue like Miki, she was under evil control like Yuki, and ended up dying and getting absorbed into Honey like both Miki and Yuki.

thank you for the info...

Kargor - April 2, 2008 11:43 AM (GMT)
The similarities are very remote, though.

Miki wasn't evil at all, she just happens to be blue. So what.

Yuki... I guess she's a bit of an inbetween case. She had this jealousy, but I don't know whether she would have gone against Miki or Honey on her own, if she hadn't been played by Panther Claw. In the end she ended up as Panther Claws pawn, but not on her own free will --- IMHO, Yuki was more of a story vehicle rather than an actual adversary, to allow Panther Claw to attack Honey's immediate surroundings and gain the upper hand to set the stage for the finale.

EDIT: back when Yuki was introduced, her fighting stance was considerably more offensive than Mikis (and certainly Honeys), but at the time there was no "necessity" for her to be the final enemy. She could simply have been a combat model (if the fighting is at least partially based on Honey System programming), or received better training.

Along the same lines, Mikis "rage" was completely dropped after she was introduced, but at the time that could have been used as an entry path for Panther Claw as well.

Thally - April 2, 2008 02:23 PM (GMT)
As far as Miki's rage goes in the early eps, my opinion is that before she flashes in episode 5, I think it had been a good while since she hadn't done it, since the spade emblem just exited her chest. I think she couldn't control herself that time simply because she had a lot of anger and a lot of other emotions bottled up inside and it just sort of exploded. In other fights after ep 5 she seems to be more in control when she fights...
