Title: CHtL 21 Discussion
apterous - February 29, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
Because people are watching raws, and heavily speculating based on previews in episode 20, I have opened this thread early. Have at!
Updated: Aaaaaaaaand... its out now! Grab!
Thally - February 29, 2008 05:36 AM (GMT)
WOOHOO! Okay! First off!
SPOILER WARNING! THOUGH 21 HASN'T BEEN RELEASED YET, I'VE WATCHED THE RAW! DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET!!!
I truly hope that Miki isn't dead per say! From what I've seen from the next ep preview, Honey didn't seem too sad, (remember how she cried in the second ep at the death of her new friend, Yuko I think? She's grown much closer to Miki and think that if Miki REALLY was gone, Honey would be in a much worse state.)
From what I could understand with the visual and some of the talking, Miki was the first girl, Honey was second, and Yuki was third...I think...my Japanese is really bad as I only picked up some stuff from watching subbed anime mostly. I think from what I understood that professor Kisaragi intended to kill Miki because she was defective, so Miki got to him first...
What bugs me is why would Kisaragi go through the trouble of implementing the system in Miki and all but just wants to kill her because the system's defective? I mean I'm sure he's a genius so he could've tried to at least fix the problem....It seems more and more to me that he was a really selfish and heartless person....My heart goes out to Miki! X*D
Hope I didn't go overboard on this! Mods feel free to edit my post if there's something wrong with it, I won't take it personal and will try to not repeat any mistakes! :)
candyman808 - February 29, 2008 02:10 PM (GMT)
I hope MIKI ain't Dead Hope that "person" finds a way to revive her in the next Episode.
Miki seems to be the leader of this group.. as far as being oldest I think. Since she was the first one to go. Come Back MIKI-CHAN!!!
apterous - February 29, 2008 03:59 PM (GMT)
Professor Kisaragi is an asshole... "Miki is defective. I've decided to scrap her." Really cool deep voice though...
This episode explains all of Miki's backstory, I hope we get something like this for Yuki next, explaining why she's with her new 'parents' and giving a better timeline.
Thally - February 29, 2008 09:16 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure as well that they'd kill Miki off...I mean she is a very important character. I do hope they can be able to fix her and bring her back to normal. From the next ep preview, I do think that Mayumi will take care of her somewhat...and if she does get better, I just hope she,ll be the same as before and not turn evil or something...the good character gone evil thing is already taken by Yuki!
Again as I said Honey didn't seem too distressed, so I'm hoping that Miki will be alright! X*D

Cool.. Now I know Miki had to kill him.. hehe. I'm glad. Hopefully she be okay. Still 4 more episodes to go.. Man.. I hope they make an SP for this at least.

Thally - March 1, 2008 06:11 AM (GMT)
Special? That'd be awesome! Miki should have her own spinoff series! XD
candyman808 - March 1, 2008 08:36 AM (GMT)
Hehe Yep.. sorry.. SP means "Special" It's like an Hour or 2 hour Episode. hehe.. Hope they do. More Miki-chan.. Yes Yes Yes!!!
PantherClaw - March 1, 2008 07:06 PM (GMT)
Honestly, I always thought of Professor Kisaragi as being an mad scientist. And maybe, Miki killing him was justice for all the awful experiments he has done to them?
avatarthe - March 1, 2008 07:50 PM (GMT)
Since no one else is mentioning it, The doctor killed Miki's parents too! You would think if his original intent was to build a replacement for his daughter he'd be a little more careful with other peoples lives...
PantherClaw - March 1, 2008 08:33 PM (GMT)
I knew that giant hand was man-made, at first I thought it was Panther Claw's.
Thally - March 1, 2008 08:58 PM (GMT)
Yes! Though I do like the change on Professor Kisaragi,s character from other version, he being a nice guy and all, I think (?)! It's a new fresh perspective on the character, that he's had more of a selfish reason and was ready to kill other people to get his daughter back....and the more, that he's ready to kill off Miki just because she's defective...I mean didn,t he learn to know her and get even remotely close to her or did he treat her just as an experiment and later on a failed experiment at that?
PantherClaw - March 1, 2008 09:20 PM (GMT)
I think Kisaragi treated her more of an experiment, but the more he got close to her, the more he wanted her all for himself. He probably didn't want anyone taking her away from him.
vcoolwater - March 2, 2008 12:34 AM (GMT)
I have feeling that the same thing was going to happen to Yuki too. But her parents intervened and saved her. I noticed in episode 15, after Yuki talked to them about being the professor's only daughter - both of them looked tense and the mom sighed in relief. I think they knew about the Professor's true nature.
Thally - March 2, 2008 03:05 AM (GMT)
Oooh that's possible vcool! Though even if Yuki is a bit of a bitch towards the other two, I kind of understand her reasons, I mean I don't think she wants to end up like poor Miki-chan! (I've been watching and re-watching the ep 21 raw over and over again, skipping the last minute everytime, I can't see Miki like this X*D )
avatarthe - March 3, 2008 12:56 AM (GMT)
Time line problem:
Okay, so Miki kills the doctor 1 year ago, a few minute later honey activates and buries him.
Then Honey goes on to high school and Miki goes on to deliquent school.
The problem is Miki thinks that the doctor moved on to Yuki once it became obvious that Miki was defective. Yuki says she has been living with were adoptive parents fro 3 years. So was she living with them for 2 years while the Dr. was alive? Did she think the doctor was dead all of that time?
Seems more likely that Yuki came first and was given up to he adoptive parents, then the Dr. moved on to Mki...
crazian - March 3, 2008 01:04 AM (GMT)
On a different note, what happened to panther claw?
-Why does transvestite man want to become honey? that's so fucking weird?
-watari: Is he dead yet? It seems like he was brought in the story again just so they could fill time
-Lesbian egg lady: Now that miki's dead, what's going to happen to her?
-Fish lady: How does she fit into all of this
Is there some other higher up in Panther Claw that we don't know about
digital_ameko - March 3, 2008 02:46 AM (GMT)
omg so sad about miki but knowing honey, she'll find a way to fix it!
Talking about the time line... by dates it makes sense that yuki would come first but by how the story goes (ie: the random metal objects) it seems like Miki was first and yuki is getting to her distroyed state too. But when did prof. have time to make Yuki? Why was his first prototype better than the second? Maybe he was leading a doubble life and made them around the same time? hid them at different houses? idk >.<
I don't think there a higher panther claw.. it almost seems like they're indivisual bosses.

I hope they don't forget about them, because they pretty much filled up most of the show before the Dr. Kisaragi sub-plot.
Thally - March 3, 2008 02:51 AM (GMT)
If I'm not mistaken we should see Mayumi in episode 22 (saw her for like a second in the preview at the end of ep 21)
PantherClaw - March 3, 2008 03:55 AM (GMT)
At least, I was right that "death hand" was man-made.
I won't lie, this episode had me angered. This is the most emotionally charged episode for me. While previous episode had me happy, sad, and angered, this had me angered the most. How the hell can Dr. Kisaragi do that?!?!?!!!! I feel SO sorry for Miki and have a better understanding of why she ended up in that reinformatory from episode 5. Also, I REFUSES to believe that Miki is dead.......
Also, I believe that Miki had to say goodbye to her boyfriend before heading off to murder The doctor. So he followed her, and witness the murder by Miki. Totally shocked, by what happened, he tried to run away. But Miki stopped him, and tried to convince him to keep this a secret. He did, but no longer is he her boyfriend, to make sure he doesn't end up in the crossfire.
Or maybe, he was her boyfriend before Miki's parents were killed....
The only funny moment would have to be when nakajou and honey squeezed each other faces, I won't lie. That was probably the only funniest part in this whole episode.
IF THIS IS A SPOILER, THEN I AM SORRY. Please feel free to edit my post. But this episode had me going nuts.
Thally - March 3, 2008 04:20 AM (GMT)
I totally agree with you PantherClaw....I was really upset when I saw what happened to Miki at the end, and I also refuse to believe she's dead! She's just too much of an important character...Yuki on the other hand....>_>
But yeah, Dr Kisaragi really has gone mad from what Miki said! I mean he thinks he's god or something, ripping a girl away from her parents, fixing her up, pretending to be her dad then whoops, when a problem arises he just scraps her like a broken doll....That's just not fair either to Miki or Yuki...although Yuki is living with a foster family so she was luckier in that sense....

I think that when Miki talks about "going back" to Kisaragi's when stuff started coming out of her, she might have been away for awhile. Maybe at school or something. If Yuki came first, why would Miki be the one breaking down first? Miki is almost being "big sister" protective of her, I think Miki being first makes sense.
Plus, we don't know how long it has been since then. Kisaragi's remains were discovered in Jan 2007 (meaning that that's when this show is happening), but since they were badly decomposed, it probably means that he was killed by Miki at least 3 years ago. I think the timeline fits.
Thally - March 3, 2008 04:30 AM (GMT)
That's totally Miki being overprotective...And remember in ep 5, the chief at the reformation center told her that che changed when she was 15....I'm guessing :
1- Miki was taken when she was around 13-14. Miki's defect started a few months later, maybe a full year, with the objects materialising outside her body, and seeing this Kisaragi started losing interest over the next months as Miki's condition worsened;
2- In the next months I'd say he targeted Yuki and made her, but the defect activates soon after;
2.5 - Kisaragi creates Honey, but she isn't activated yet;
3- Not long after he is killed by Miki;
3.5 - Honey activates and buries Dr Kisaragi;
4- Without a legal guardian, Yuki is sent to the Kenmochi family, and Miki is sent to reformation centers;
5- Yuki spends about 3 years with her foster family;
6- And Miki spends these years in centers (I'm guessing she escapes a month or two before the three of them turn 17.)
That's all I can think of now :)
Katsu - March 3, 2008 04:46 AM (GMT)
I was rather surprised at the loss of Miki, but I also agree that we haven't seen the last of her.
My question is this, is Honey the only android of them all, while Yuki and Miki were humans who were implanted with gear from Dr. Kisaragi? Will Miki too, become an android? Saa, the show has me on my toes now with questions.
Thally - March 3, 2008 04:50 AM (GMT)
I think that could be a possibility Katsu, just as long as she comes back just as she was, unchanged, but just like Honey in the sense that she'd be herself, but a full android instead of a modified human.
Edit: Yes I think Honey for now is the only Full android. Miki and Yuki were used as templates for a replacement to Kisaragi's deceased daughter.
Katsu - March 3, 2008 04:52 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I hope Miki keeps her personality IF things were to turn out that way. Can you imagine her like Honey? Can the series take that much sugar? What would Hayami do?!? (O_O);;;;
Thally - March 3, 2008 04:52 AM (GMT)
Haha! I think Seiji would go nuts, I think he already has a hard time dealing with Honey's bubbliness, I can't imagine him dealing with an overly cheery Miki XD

The police say that the Doctor has been missing for a year.
vcoolwater - March 3, 2008 05:10 AM (GMT)
Sorry guys, I think Miki is going to stay dead
Reasons
1) Miki's story is done- we know why she killed her father and why she was sent to the reformation centers
2) Miki has accepted her death. Her realationship with Honey is tainited with lies and she would still experianced pain. She will also be reunited with her parents and be happy
3) Her death will profound effects on Honey and Yuki. Especially Yuki, with her struggling with the same fate will happen to her.
4) She also had closure with Masayuki and when she said goodbye to him in episode 17. The only lose end is that he did not have closure with Miki. But I dont think the writers will bring him back
Mayami will try to bring her back to life. She will fail because she is evil.
Thally - March 3, 2008 05:12 AM (GMT)
Noooes! I'll believe it when I see it! X*D But what you say makes sense though...but it'd be a pity to see such a cool character go... TwT
PantherClaw - March 3, 2008 05:44 AM (GMT)
At least, the actress did an AWESOME job as Miki. She played that character beautifully, and gives us something to remember her by. Also, I don't think Miki's relationship with Honey was a total lie. At least, she knew that Honey cared for her and will do anything to protect her.
Thally - March 3, 2008 05:54 AM (GMT)
You're right! And if I'm not mistaken, it was Ayame Misaki's first time in acting right?
PantherClaw - March 3, 2008 01:28 PM (GMT)
Yeah I think so, am not really too sure. I forgot to mention that, the most susprising moment for me, was when Yuki threaten Hayami. I also didn't expect to hear that.
Thally - March 3, 2008 03:19 PM (GMT)
Ah as far as Yuki threatening Hayami, I think it's overdue, I mean the poor guy's been totally clueless about her, and I think Yuki's shown any patience with him! If it had been Miki he'd followed around he'd have known to stop like 15 seconds later *thinks of the poor cow in ep 13...* Oh but Miki DID threaten him with the cow thing I think! XD

Yeah, I am beginning to think that by the end of episode 25 only one flashing girl will be left, Honey.
That said, I could see evil Yuki and the lesbian egg lady striking up a friendship...
Thally, too a look at your deviant site, very nice! You are a great artist! I hadn't realized your avatar is an illustration of Miki! Very nice!
PantherClaw - March 4, 2008 05:34 AM (GMT)
Yeah, love the drawing of Miki, very Mulan-inspired. I don't think that Yuki/Mayumi will be friends, maybe partners. Anyways, I watched this episode again, and I found out something dirty.
On Veoh, at 5:15 when they were showing pictures of their "birthday" party. If you look very carefully at the group picture, it looked like Miki was TOUCHING Nat-chan's breast! I didn't believe it at first, but that hand looked like somebody's right hand, and Miki was standing beside her. Wow, Miki's a dirty girl.......
Thally - March 4, 2008 07:56 AM (GMT)
Thanks! Yeah my avatar is a pic of Miki! XD
Still...I wish they'd bring Miki back...and that the series could have a happy ending with the three of them just getting along X***D
Hm friendship between Mayumi and Yuki could be possible, though Mayumi hasn't shown any interest towards Yuki as far as I've seen...
Jastrock - March 4, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
Miki is dead and will stay dead. There are many signs proving that:
-First her ending was greyed out(Common japanese way to show dead people :P)
-Second there is only a few shows left, things are being wrapped up and closed, going toward the spectacular(I hope) ending.
-We saw her die, just like that Panther Claw test during the show. And we clearly hear Yuki yell "I don't want to die!" in the previews.
Also... it's so clear that Professor Kisarigi IS Panther Claw.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like:
He made Panther Claw to finance his reseach.. and use them.(Was the sole and top boss). Then when he was killed, the other four(that he probably created himself for his deeds) Had a fight on who was to succeed, and it ended up in a still mate where each took over something up, or heck it could be just that they already had that job, and they only removed the top boss that was getting most of the money.
They all know about the Honey System. But since Honey vanished soon after the professor died, they never found her.
I'm guessing honey was found by Seiji while she was wondering around naked or something. Would still be interrested to know how he actually met her and got that helm thingy for her.
Anyways that's my theory and I will stand by it.
