I About MKV
MKV, or Matroska Video, is a file container that allows more
easily for things like "multiple removable subtitles" and
"dual audio" and other such neat things. This means that
technically, you can rip the subs out and use them for whatever.
Please don't re-encode our translation for your own,
or use our scripts in a bootleg. If we see this, we'll
stop soft-subbing, and that would make us sad.

II How to play MKV:
Windows media player should work. I personally prefer Media Player Classic.
To play the AC3 audio, you can download that codec here:
http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/

If you can't play MKV, try the small codec pack here:
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA022257/matroska/

Make sure to also install the VobSub option inside the pack,
or you probably won't see the subtitles.

Read the documentation about how to enable effects and karaoke in
Matroska or Vobsub. Because karaoke doesn't render easily or by
default, there isn't a lot included, and the effects being stripped
out doesn't change the viewing too much, so don't get hung up over it.

If you don't see the kanji for the songs and see garbage instead,
you may not have Japanese language support on your computer. In windows,
this can be installed under Control Panels -> Regianal and Language
Options. Once again, not overly vital, so don't get hung up about it.

If you still can't play the MKV or AC3 audio at all, there will
eventually be an XviD / MP3 / hardsubbed version. Please
don't come into the chat room and ask the ops why it won't play,
that's why there's a readme.

III Extra Notes
Cameo 1: The person singing the english Ode to Sister Jill is Koda Kumi,
the same person that sang the opening and ending songs for the
movie.

Cameo 2: The person in the car that Honey lands on after falling off
of Jill Tower later in the movie is none other than Go Nagai, original
author of Cutey Honey back in the 70's. His other works include
Getter Robo, DevilMan, Mazinger Z and more. He is "The Man."

Tres bien: French for "very good"
Prodigieux: French for "phenominal"

Opening Song: We didn't subtitle the lyrics to the opening song into the
fight scene because it looked pretty distracting. The full song and lyrics,
if you are interested, are in the Cutie Honey PV on our Torrent page.
http://a.scarywater.net/spork/
By the way, every Cutey/Cutie Honey series has had a version of the same
opening song, ever since the beginning, including:
Cutie Honey '73
Shin Cutey Honey OVA (eps 5-8 had an awful English version)
Cutey Honey Flash (the evil Shoujo version)
Re: Cutie Honey (same Koda Kumi version)

Yoru Kiri no Honey: the middle song that goes "dareka ga yonderu, Honey"
is the original 1973 anime ending song. If you haven't seen any of the
1973 anime, some of that is also on our torrent page. You'll appreciate
some of the movie's adaptations more once you've seen the original. The lyrics were typeset to be in about the position they were in the closing credits of the '73 version. If you don't like it... well, they're soft
subs, you can turn them off or edit them or something. That's also
why the kanji is a mixed bag, I could have added more kanji, but words
were left in hiragana if they were in hiragana in the original ending
lyrics.

Cutey or Cutie?
Why the different spellings for "Cutie"? It was originally romanized
as "Cutey," but recently was changed, likely do to the fact that it is
not a correct grammatical spelling. The new packaging for CH '73 R2 DVD's
has the new corrected spelling of "Cutie," while Shin CH and CH Flash
(which had the romanized spelling of "Cutey" in it throughout the show's
opening scenes) mysteriously have no romanization on the R2 DVD packaging
at all. I rather wish they had just stuck to the old spelling,
since people keep complaining to me about it, but there's not a lot
I can do about it.
